Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Melba Jordan, Ed.S.
Welcome to the 2020 - 2021 school year!
I am so excited to take this journey with your 6th grade child. My hopes are that your child will develop a love of reading and develop critical thinking skills that will help your child navigate through scholarly years and beyond.
As you have entrusted your child into my hands, allow me to tell you a little bit about myself. I am originally from up north, but moved to Augusta after living in Florida where I taught for 11 years. I am currently in my 13th year of teaching. I am Dominican-American, proud to be fluent in Spanish. I hold a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction in Reading, and Educational Specialist in Educational Leadership. I am currently pursuing an Educational Doctorate degree in Educational Leadership. I hold a Professional Teaching License in Reading PK-12, Middle Grades English 4-8, and am Gifted Endorsed. I trust that my experience has equipped me to work diligently with your child. They are in good hands!
Students will be doing most of their electronic work in the classroom. However, there may be a few assignments given to complete from home which will require internet access. If there are any concerns with that requirement, please feel free to inform me so that I may make alternate accommodations. Otherwise, rest assured that the assignments will be accessible at the library or anywhere free Wi-Fi is offered. My syllabus and homework assignments will be available on my school website. I encourage you to look at it periodically so that you will be aware of class requirements. Here are a few practical tips for managing distance/technological learning for your child.

Looking forward to a great and successful year!
