As a School Counselor, I am here to assist students with daily stresses and concerns, as well as be proactive about skills and behaviors that may impact a student's academic success.  I am also here to address parents' concerns.  You will often see me as part of the Response to Intervention team meetings and parent conferences.  I am available Monday-Friday from 8:15 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.

Welcome to the School Counseling Page!

I am Laurie Montgomery and I have been a School Counselor in Richmond County for 23 years. My first years were at Garrett and Monte Sano Elementary and I have been  at C. T. Walker for 18 years.  I have a Bachelor of Science in Family and Consumer Sciences from University of Georgia and ran an Interior Design and Drapery Business in Savannah until my family moved to Augusta.  In Augusta, I graduated from Augusta University with a Masters in Education with an emphasis on School Counseling. I work to assist teachers and staff with all students K-5.

My husband, Erick Montgomery, is Executive Director of Historic Augusta, Inc.  We have three children who are now 36, 34, and 29. They all attended Richmond County Public Schools; Forest Hills, Lake Forest Hills, Langford Middle School, C. T. Walker and Davidson Fine Arts.  All of my children have graduated from Georgia colleges, one from UGA, one from Georgia Southern and one from Georgia College in Milledgeville.

I enjoy riding bikes, walking, swimming and reading.

Feel free to reach out to me with any concerns you may have about your child.  We are here to help as much as we can and to support parents and teachers.

My other supporting roles in the school are as Red Ribbon Week Coordinator and heading the Safety Patrol.   I also am in charge of Magnet School testing for Kindergarten students and registration.  My personal interests are reading, swimming, cycling, walking, and music.

I truly enjoy getting to know our students and helping them with any challenges they may face.  Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can help you in any way.
