August 2022
Dear Parents and Students:
My name is Jeanette Wiggleton, and I'd like to welcome your children, and you, to W.S. ElementaryHornsby School. Your children have all just completed a busy and productive year, and I'd like to assure you that their education will continue as we work to meet their Individual Educational Plans (IEP) goals and collective learning goals.
First, a little about myself: I am a mother of three grown children and the grandmother of 10 grandchildren. I am a special education parent of a 38 year old adult. My family is my world and a pleasure to be around. I am the younger sibling of 17 sisters and brothers. I have been a special education teacher for 15 years in Richmond County including the last year here at W.S. Hornsby Elementary School. I have over ten years of experiences as a Child Protection Service Caseworker for DFCS in Richmond, Glascock and Warren County. I believe that all children have a right to be in God’s World.
Education: I am a 2003 Graduate of Augusta State University with BS in Sociology with a minor in Social Work. 2006 Graduate from Augusta State University with a Master in Special Education.
As a special education teacher, I believe in student-centered approach to learning. That is, I feel it's important that I get to know every student individually and develop individual education goals for each that tie into our classroom learning. I also believe that it's important that we—your child, you the parent, and I—work together as a team to help your children succeed.
This year, we will be focusing on district and state grade learning standards, which include: Math, Reading, Writing and other areas including basic science concepts, social studies, and social skills.
W.S. Hornsby Elementary school believes in a safe environment. We will work hard all year long building a classroom that encourages risk-taking, thinking, respect, trust, and a sense of ownership among all students. Parents, teacher, and students must work as a team to achieve our highest potential. I value your comments, suggestions and input as we beginning the W.S. Hornsby Elementary School 2022 - 2023 year.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me via email or school telephone (706-823-6928). If emailing, please expect a response within 24 hours. I look forward to seeing you during the school year.
Sincerely,
Jeanette Wiggleton
