Hello!

My name is Ms. Armour-Barber. I will be your 5th-grade Social Studies and Science teacher this year. I have a Bachelor’s in History from Augusta State University and an Associate's in Art from Okaloosa Community College. I grew up in Youngstown, Ohio, and graduated from Ursuline High where I was State Champion in track and field. In 1997, I joined the United States Air Force and served my country proudly for six years.

Leaving the military didn't stop me from helping out! I kept serving by joining nonprofits like the YMCA and The Boys and Girls Club. I was thrilled with my nomination as Part-Time Employee of the Year at The Boys and Girls Club. Years later, I won Teacher of the Year at Kingdom Kids Christian Academy.

Using real-life events is my favorite part of teaching Social Studies. I love making history fun for my students with fun games, songs, and dances! I’m eager to keep the excitement going as I start my tenth year teaching at Hains Elementary School. I can’t wait to spend another school year learning and growing with you!

Interesting Facts About Me:

I regularly do women’s weight training and plan to participate in competitions someday.

I like to sew and crochet clothes.

I’m vegan. That means I only eat fruits and vegetables (oh, and ice cream!)

My favorite color is orange, but it changes sometimes.
