Becky Cole
Hello! My name is Becky Cole and I am a special education teacher at Cross Creek High School. I have been teaching high school since 2003 and have been at Cross Creek ever since. Teaching, however, is a second career for me. My first career was in the medical field, where I worked as a Respiratory Therapist and a gastroenterology assistant. After I became a teacher, I taught Social Studies for 13 years but then decided to make the change to special education. You may ask why I would make the change after 13 years of regular education. That is easy to explain. While teaching Psychology and Sociology, I oversaw a mentoring program in which my students went into the self- contained special education classes and mentored the students there. It was a fantastic experience for all! I saw the need of these special students and the struggles they experience. I also saw the need for more teachers in Special Education. So I decided to make the move and became certified in adapted curriculum special education. I am enjoying the change! The education, tools, and skills I have acquired over the years have prepared me for this position. I am truly blessed!
For the 2022-2023 school year I will be co-teaching with Mrs. Emilee Dyches in 10th grade Literature and Mr. Brian Neill in British Literature. If your student is enrolled in any of the classes I co-teach, please feel free to contact me via email. I am happy to serve and meet student's needs at any learning level .
