Destiny Library Catalog
In the video below I show Freedom Park students how to look for books in our library through our Destiny catalog. I always explain to students how to do the five finger rule when looking for a book to find challenging books that will increase their Lexiles. Turn to the first page and read, if you do not know one word it may be too easy, if you do not know two words it is good, if you do not know three words it is a challenge, if you do not know four words you will need help reading it, and if you do not know five words get another book because it will probably be too difficult. The student may be able to read the word but if they cannot tell you what the word means then they do not know the word. Lexile measures the text complexity of the books words, and more non-fiction books have higher Lexiles levels.
