A message from Coach Teddy...
Good morning parents and future Eagles boys’ basketball players! It is that time of year again and this year we’re looking to improve upon last year’s success at Freedom Park. Conditioning will start this Thursday, September 26, 2019 at 4pm- 5:30pm at the Freedom Park gym. All student athletes who are interested in trying out for the Freedom Park boys’ basketball team are invited. Pre-Season conditioning is not mandatory but will give the student athletes the advantage of being in tip top shape come tryouts but will not guarantee they will make the team. Failure to attend pre-season conditioning will not be a determining factor on who makes the team. Pre-Season conditioning will take place on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from September 26, 2019- October 17, 2019. Tuesday and Thursday times are 4pm- 5:30pm and Saturday times are 9-10:30am. In order to be able to participate, the student athlete’s physical must be turned in to Coach Todd and on file prior to starting conditioning.
There will also be pre-season skills training once a week for up to 4 players at a time. Players must have physicals on file and sign up for time slots at least 48 hrs in advanced. Those days will be posted on the Freedom Park Facebook page by the end of the week.
Try-outs will start on Monday, October 21, 2019 and conclude on Thursday, October 26, 2019. The first round of cuts will be posted on the gym door the morning of Wednesday, October 25, 2019. Student athletes will still come to school prepared for tryouts until they are informed otherwise (they’re identification is posted on the cut list). Final rosters will be posted on the gym door the morning of Friday, October 27, 2019.
Prior to Try-outs there will be a parent/player meeting to go over expectations on Tuesday, October 15, 2019, following conditioning. All parents and players who are interested in trying out must attend this meeting in order to be informed of the expectations of the Freedom Park boys’ basketball program and to ask questions of the coaching staff and school administration PRIOR to the start of the season. There will be an additional parent meeting after the team is selected to go over fundraisers, practice schedule and other topics that only effect players who are selected.
On behalf of the Freedom Park boys’ basketball program, I’d like to personally thank you for your interestin Freedom Park Basketball and I look forward to a great season! Go Eagles!
