  • The 2018-2019 school year began August 6, 2018. We are so excited to teach your child!! Here at Freedom Park your child will have three third grade teachers: Renee Beard (Science and Social Studies), Tia Burton (ELA), and Kathy Tobias (mathematics). If you have not registered, can register online at RCSS Registration Central and in the front office. Be sure to give the Georgia Immunizations, Ear Eye and Dental form, social security number, and proof of residency to the office or your child's teacher for the permanent record. We look forward to a year of exploration and learning!!

In third grade your child will take the Georgia Milestones Assessment in May of 2019. We will work all year in preparation for these tests. For more formation on the Georgia Milestones assessment or for practice, please visit http://www.gadoe.org/Curriculum-Instruction-and-Assessment/Assessment/Documents/Milestones/Study-Resource%20Guides/Milestones_StudyGuide_GR03_11-16.pdf

  • We are currently working on reading nonfiction texts. Ask your child the main idea of what they are reading. This is the most important point of a paragraph, passage, or text!! They should now be able to identify the main idea of two texts/passages and be able to compare and contrast the texts/passages.

This nine weeks in language arts we are finishing informative/explanatory writing and introducing persuasive/opinion/argumentative writing. This will be our focus after our i-Ready testing.
