Course Overview
Marketing & Entrepreneurship is the second course in the Marketing and Management Career Pathway. It builds upon the foundational knowledge gained in Marketing Principles by providing a deeper exploration of marketing while emphasizing entrepreneurship, management, and small business ownership.
Students will learn how to identify business opportunities, create business plans, and apply marketing strategies to launch and grow entrepreneurial ventures. The course includes practical application scenarios, case studies, and leadership experiences through DECA, Work-Based Learning (WBL), and School-Based Enterprises.
The prerequisite for this course is Marketing Principles.
Course Objectives
By the end of this course, students will be able to:

Understand the concepts, processes, and strategies of entrepreneurship and small business ownership.

Develop skills in business planning, financial organization, and strategic management.

Apply marketing concepts such as the marketing mix, branding, and digital marketing to entrepreneurial ventures.

Explore the role of leadership and supervision in managing a business.

Participate in DECA events, School-Based Enterprises, and WBL experiences to apply classroom knowledge in real-world settings.

Demonstrate creativity, innovation, and ethical decision-making in business practices.

Assessment Methods

Students who are absent (excused or unexcused) have five school days after returning to complete missed work. It is the student’s responsibility to obtain and clarify assignments. Clarification must be requested before or after school—not during instructional time. Refer to the T.W. Josey Student Handbook for additional details.
