Mrs. K. Mack

I would like to welcome you to ELA class.  I am excited to be beginning my 21st year in teaching Richmond County students.  I was born in Chicago, Illinois, but moved to Venice, California a few weeks after my birth.  In my primary years, I learned to swim in the Pacific Ocean, ride my bike from one beachfront to another beachfront, and roller skate on Venice Boardwalk.  My unique experiences instilled in me the love of the outdoors and anywhere there is water.

During my teenage years, I moved to Atlanta, Georgia and graduated from Stone Mountain High School.  From Atlanta, I made my way to Athens where I became a “Bulldog” and graduated from UGA with a degree in Political Science.  After meeting my husband in college, we married and moved to Augusta where I have lived for the past 21 years.

While at UGA I never considered a career in education, but after moving to Augusta and coming into contact with many teachers from Richmond County, I decided to go back to school.   My mother-in-law and father-in-law were both in education, and my husband was very supportive.  Therefore, I took a leap of faith, and went back to school for the 2nd time.

Now, I look back and can attest that I have received a lot of joy from teaching.  I have taught middle school since 2000.  This will be my fourth year teaching at RCTCM. I support RCTCM as a teacher, but also as a parent of a high school student that attends RCTCM and a graduate of RCTCM that attends Georgia Tech.

I am excited to be teaching at RCTCM.  I am also thrilled to be teaching Literature.  I embrace the principle of reciprocity and to treat others as they would like to be treated.  I enjoy teaching, but most importantly I enjoy when students are excited about learning.
