Welcome to RCTCM!
I would like to welcome you to ELA class. I am excited about beginning my 24th year teaching Richmond County students. I was born in Chicago, Illinois, but moved to Venice, California a few weeks after my birth. In my primary years, I learned to swim in the Pacific Ocean, ride my bike from one beachfront to another beachfront, and roller skate on the Venice Boardwalk. My unique experiences instilled in me the love of the outdoors and anywhere there is water.
During my teenage years, I moved to Atlanta, Georgia and graduated from Stone Mountain High School.. From Atlanta, I made my way to Athens where I became a “Bulldog” and graduated from UGA with a degree in Political Science. After meeting my husband in college, we married and moved to Augusta, where I have lived for the past 26 years.
While at UGA I never considered a career in education, but after moving to Augusta and coming into contact with many educators from Richmond County, I decided to go back to school. My mother-in-law and father-in-law were both in education, and my husband was very supportive. Therefore, I took a leap of faith, and went back to school for the 2nd time. I'm glad I did.
Now, I look back and can attest that I have received a lot of joy from teaching. This will be my seventh year teaching at RCTCM. I support RCTCM as a teacher, but also as a parent of 2 graduates of RCTCM. Corey is a 2022 graduate who is in his 2nd year at Kennesaw State University and majoring in Computer Engineering. Christopher is a 2020 graduate who attends Georgia Tech in Atlanta.
