Mrs. Marcia E. Crawford (Crawfma)
I am excited about returning to RCTCM for my 12th year!
I graduated from Tuskegee University with a Bachelor's in Social Work (BSW). I worked at the Department of Family and Children Services for 14 years, where I worked with abused and neglected children. I enjoyed being able to help children that needed a voice. After so many years, my work took me out of the field and no longer working directly with children. This is what I enjoyed most, so I decided to find something that could allow me to still teach, and work with children again. This is when I decided that teaching/education would be ideal. I went back to school and earned my Masters in Secondary Education. It has been the best decision I could have made for my career. I LOVE teaching!
My first teaching job was at Ursula Collins K - 8 School where I taught middle school English and Social Studies for 6 years. This was an awesome experience that helped me to grow and develop a further passion for teaching. After Ursula Collins closed, I was blessed to have the opportunity to teach at the Richmond County Technical Career Magnet School. I have been teaching ELA since the 2014-2015 school year. I am also the yearbook advisor and ELA Department Chair.
My hobbies include sports, reading, traveling, and going to the movies. I am married to an awesome man. We have three daughters; ages 32, 31, and 26. We have one son, age 24. We are currently empty nesters, and they are all living on their own. We are very proud of them. We also have five grandchildren; ages 12, 11, 4 and a set of 6-year-old twins. Family is extremely important to me, which means that each and every student at RCTCM is extremely important to me....you are a part of my family.
Crawfma's theme this year is all about having a growth mindset. "Change Your Words, Change Your Mindset. Whether You Think You Can or You Can't, You're Right!
