Course Description:
Broadcast Video Production Applications is a blended course that combines classroom instruction with online learning through Canvas. Designed to support student-led projects under instructor guidance, this course prepares students for entry-level employment or post-secondary education in broadcasting and video production. Students work both independently and collaboratively to master skills in advanced camera techniques, audio production, scriptwriting, producing, directing, editing, and professional communication. Emphasis is placed on employability skills and the development of a digital portfolio that includes a résumé, references, and production samples. The class meets 2–3 times per week, with both in-class assignments posted on Canvas. Students will be assessed through various methods aligned to specific learning outcomes, and rubrics will be provided for most assignments. Please refer to the school-wide grading policy for more information.
Absences & Late Work
Students have five school days after returning from an absence to complete and submit missed work. After that, assignments may be marked as missing. It is the student’s responsibility to check Canvas and get any notes or tasks missed.Late assignments may lose 5% per day, up to a 25% maximum. Work more than five days late will only be accepted at the teacher’s discretion. Repeated late work may lead to a parent-student-teacher conference and an academic contract. Staying on track during the learning unit is key to success.
Cell Policy
Cell phone use is prohibited in school. Cellphones, AirPods, and smartwatches must remain off and entirely out of view unless verbal permission has been given for school-related assignments.
