Who's Ready to Learn Something?!

Test 2
  • Greetings, Young Scholars!

My name is Matthew V. Williams and I'm a second-generation educator here at HHS; my mother Melinda L. Williams taught here for 20+ years and I'm following in her footsteps (although my style is very different than hers).  I consider myself an education advocate, believing that learning--- history in particular--- is far bigger than the classroom. My concentration area is History, but I am knowledgeable about many content areas because... I just love to think and learn!  On that note, if you see me tossing a Rubik's cube around, I'm trying to beat my best time; I'm down to 2 minutes and 30 seconds! >:-P

Speaking of hobbies, my interests include music appreciation, gaming, automotive work, pencil drawing, current events, learning the stock market... I'm into a little of everything!  Therefore, I try to find ways to bring those things into the classroom with me to make history come alive. Also--- I've been a fan of the Memphis Grizzlies since waaaay back when Lionel Hollins was coaching.  So if you're a Golden State fan... 🐻 🐻 🐻 🐻 🐻 take that!

My classes this year include U.S. History (1st, 2nd, 6th, and 7th periods) and World Geography (3rd period).  That's generally 10th and 11th graders with a few 9th graders here and a few 12th graders there.

My educational background is that I've received my bachelor's degree from Augusta State University, where I majored in History and minored in Sociology (Sociology being my FAVORITE content area).  I'm currently in the TeacherReady program, which I am due to complete very soon.  After that, I intend to pursue my Master's degree either in my field or in... believe it or not, Math (I do a little math tutoring here and there).

I can be reached at WilliMa6@boe.richmond.k12.ga.us, or via Remind once I have added you (my students) to my Remind rosters. I am available for tutoring on Thursdays from 2:30-3:30, or by appointment.

Looking forward to spending a GREAT YEAR with you!!

    Best Regards and God Bless,
