Sergeant Major Fields was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He enlisted in the Army, July, 1988, completing Basic Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina and Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at Fort Gordon, Georgia.
Sergeant Major Fields’ assignments include: 514th Maintenance Company, Fort Drum, New York, HHC 63rd Signal Battalion, Fort Gordon, Georgia, C Co. 32nd Signal Battalion, Darmstadt, Germany, Regimental NCO Academy, Fort Gordon, Georgia, Atlanta Recruiting Battalion, Atlanta, Georgia, 385th Signal Company, Kuwait, HHC 63rd Signal Battalion Rear Detachment 1SG, Fort, Gordon, Georgia. HHC 35th TTSB Camp Victory Base Complex, Iraq, 72nd Expeditionary Signal Battalion, and HHC 7th TTSB Schweinfurt, Germany. He’s currently assigned as the 15th Regimental Signal Brigade Operations Sergeant Major.
Sergeant Major Fields’ Leadership positions include: Team Chief, Section Sergeant, Small Group Leader, Recruiter, Station Commander, Senior Small Group Leader, Platoon Sergeant, Operations Sergeant, First Sergeant, Battalion and Brigade Operations Sergeant Major.

He has a Bachelor degree in Business and Management from Excelsior College and a Master degree in Management and Leadership from Webster University.
