Ms. Jasmine Calvin
Welcome to my About Me page! I am absolutely thrilled to embark on my journey as a first-year teacher, and I can't wait to share a bit about myself with you.
I was born and raised in Augusta, GA. I graduated from A.R. Johnson Magnet School, but I am also an honorary HHS graduate of my mother's graduating class of 1998. My aunt and uncle are also proud alumni. I'm especially proud to teach some of my mother's, uncle's, and aunt's classmates' children. It has given me more of a reason to push students to see their full potential.
My collegiate academic journey started with me graduating from Georgia Military College with my Associate's egree, then from USC Aiken, where I earned a Bachelor's degree in Sociology and Criminology. This foundation instilled in me a keen understanding of society and human behavior, which I believe plays a crucial role in guiding students toward becoming well-rounded individuals.
This fall marks an exciting new chapter as I begin my graduate program at Grand Canyon University, pursuing a Masters in Secondary Education with a focus on STEM subjects. The prospect of diving deeper into these fields and honing my teaching skills is a journey I eagerly anticipate.
Beyond academics, I am also a proud member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., an organization that values scholarship, sisterhood, and service. These principles align perfectly with my commitment to education and nurturing future leaders.
For the upcoming 2023-2024 school year, I am thrilled to announce that I will be teaching Environmental Science and Human Anatomy. These subjects hold immense potential for fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and a deeper appreciation for the world around us.
As I step into my role as an educator, my primary goal is to inspire and empower the minds of our future leaders. I firmly believe that education is the cornerstone of progress and positive change in society. It is my honor and privilege to play a part in shaping the minds that will lead us into a brighter tomorrow.
Thank you for taking the time to learn about me. I am excited to embark on this journey of growth, learning, and discovery alongside my students and the entire educational community. Here's to an inspiring and transformative year ahead!
