March Madness

    The RCTCM chapter of SkillsUSA and the High School Student Council is hosting the RCTCM March Madness Skills Competition on March 24, 2023, at 4 pm. Players may participate in several basketball contests. There is a fee for each contest.  All RCTCM middle and high school students are welcome to play! Non-playing students are encouraged to purchase tickets and come cheer for your friends and classmates.

     

    All participants must submit a signed Physical Activity Waiver Form. Physical Activity Waiver.docx 

     

    Competitions:

    Free Throw Contest                                                            $2

    Players have 1 minute to make as many free throws as possible. If winners have a tie score, there will be another round to break the tie. 

     

    3 Point Contest                                                                                         $2

    Players will have 1 minute to make as many 3-point shots as possible. If there is a tie, there will be a 55 seconds second round. 5 seconds will be subtracted for each additional needed round.  TBD: Players may be asked to shoot from one or more locations.

     

    Half-Court Contest                                                              $2

    Players will have 1 minute to make as many Half-Court shots as possible. Winner is the person who gets the most points or who gets the most balls almost in. If there is a tie, there will be a 55 seconds second round. 5 seconds will be subtracted for each additional needed round. 

     

    3-on-3                                                                                                           $4 per player

    • First to 15-20 points wins. (Need not win by 2).
    • There is no game clock. 15-minute TIME LIMIT (most points wins).
    • In the event of a tie, the alternate possession rule will be used to determine which team gets the ball. First team to score wins.
    • One referee per game. Referees are responsible for keeping score and recording fouls.
    • First possession will be determined by coin toss.
    • Games are half-court. Ball must be taken back past the three-point line following a defensive rebound or turnover. Players must check the ball before beginning play after a made basket, on all whistles & stoppage of play.
    • If a player is fouled by an opponent while shooting and he/she makes the basket; one point will be awarded along with one free throw shot. If the free throw is made, the defensive team retains possession. If the free throw is missed, the offensive team retains possession.
    • The bonus will go into effect on the 5th team foul. Bonus will consist of one free throw.

    SCORING: Normal score rule apply.

    TIME OUTS:  Each team will get one 30-second timeout per game.

    SUBSTITUTIONS:  Substitutions can be made after a made basket or a dead ball.  Be sure to notify the official before subbing.

    Tickets to the RCTCM March Madness Skills Competition on March 24, 2023, at 4 pm are on sale now. Tickets are $2. Students may also pre-pay for a $3 snack bag with their ticket.
