  • 2025-2026 Algebra 1 Summer Work:

To be successful in Algebra 1, you will frequently need to use previous skills learned in middle school math (especially 8th grade):

For example, you need to know:

    • Write and Solve Multi-Step Equations
    • Graph and Interpret Equations in Slope Intercept Form
    • Solve Systems of Linear Equations

    By Graphing, Substitution, and Elimination

    • Understand Special Cases (No Solution and Infinite Solutions)
    • Equations of Parallel and Perpendicular Lines

This is a required assignment and will count towards your minor assignments' category in the first semester.  Choosing not to complete the summer work on time or at all will negatively affect your performance and your grade in the class.  Read the instructions carefully to know exactly what you need to do!

You will need to complete the questions to the best of your ability and then go to the corrections to watch videos and see examples.  Your grade will be based on the “corrections” assignment… not the initial test.

Algebra 1 Summer Work—to be completed by Friday, August 8, 2025

    STEP 1:

    STEP 2:

    • Complete the Advanced Algebra Summer Work Assignment.
    • You may use your calculator, Desmos, and/or scratch paper.
    • Students are expected to adhere to the Honor Code:  “On my honor, I pledge that I have not given nor received any unauthorized aid on this assignment. “

    STEP 3:

    • View your results by clicking the white “Show Solutions” button, in the top right corner of the first box labeled "Advanced Algebra Summer Work Assignment.”

    STEP 4:

    • If you are happy with the grade you earned, you are done with your summer work. The score earned will count towards your minor assignments' category in the first semester.
    • If you would like to improve the grade you earned, you may do the Test Corrections in Delta Math by clicking the green “Initialize Test Correction” button and the score you earn on the corrections will replace your original score.
    • The due date is Friday, August 8, 2025.

When school starts for 2025-2026 school year, the expectation is that you have mastered the summer work concepts and can readily apply those concepts.

To be successful in AP Statistics, you will frequently need to use previous skills learned in middle school.

For example, you need to know:

    • Measures of Center: Mean, Median, Mode
    • Measures of Variation: Range and Interquartile Range
    • Box and Whisker Plots
    • Histograms
    • Dot Plots
    • Two-Way Tables
    • Bar Graphs
    • Circle Graphs
    • Line Graphs
    • Line of Best Fit (Use Desmos by entering data in a table, then type "y1~mx1+b" to get the m and b values for the linear function.

This is a required assignment and will count towards your minor assignments' category in the first semester.  Choosing not to complete the summer work on time or at all will negatively affect your performance and your grade in the class.  You will first complete the assignment.  Then you have an opportunity to complete the “corrections” to make sure you thoroughly understand these concepts.

  • I am so excited to start a new school year and am looking forward to meeting all of you!

This is my twenty-seventh year teaching and my seventh year teaching seventh grade math at Davidson Fine Arts.  I absolutely love working with the wonderful students, administration, faculty, and staff here.  I am from Augusta and graduated from Richmond Academy (class of 1987).  I went on to get my bachelor’s degree from Georgia Southern University and my master’s degree from Troy State University.  A couple of years ago, I also received my specialist degree in curriculum and instruction from Georgia Regents University (AKA:  Augusta University).  Math has always been my passion and I am dedicated to providing my students with the tools and skills they need to become successful in high school math classes, as they prepare to enter the work force and college after graduating.
