High school is a big transition, but you don’t have to do it alone. I’m here to support you from day one—whether you’re navigating your class decisions, exploring AP opportunities, or just trying to find your people. I believe in high expectations and high support, and I love helping students discover their strengths, rise to challenges, and feel seen along the way.
When I’m not cheering on Westside students, I’m probably with my family, reading something thought-provoking, or trying to convince my kids that vegetables are delicious.

AP Pre-Calculus and Honors Advanced Algebra – Mr. A
You don’t need to be a “math whiz” to thrive in AP Pre-Calculus-just willing to ask questions and try new approaches. We’ll explore the patterns and logic behind math, connect concepts to real-life situations, and build the problem-solving skills you’ll need for college and beyond.
Outside of school, I’m a puzzle enthusiast, a coffee lover, and someone who enjoys making math make sense for everyone. If you’re ready to challenge yourself and discover how powerful math can be, this is the class for you.
AP Government and Politics – Ms. Beasley
You don’t need to be a “politics person” to succeed in AP Gov — just curious and open to learning. We’ll dive into how our government works, explore real-world issues, and learn how to make strong, informed arguments.
Outside of school, I’m a mom, a traveler, and someone who loves helping students find their voice. If you're ready to be challenged and grow, this is the class for you.
AP Seminar – Mr. Bickle
AP Seminar is about learning to ask powerful questions, collaborate with other learners, seek out reliable experts/sources, and to transmit your ideas just like you will in college. I wish I had taken this class in high school, because it is exactly the kind of research and writing I was asked to do all the way through my higher education career.
As for me, you will find that I am a passionate person, from my family (my wife and two little children) to my hobbies (guitar, gaming, reading, philosophy, etc.). My goal is to inspire you to be passionate in your interests too. AP Seminar is perfect for that!
AP Literature – Ms. Brown
Why AP Lit? Because literature is language, and there’s nothing more exciting than that, for language is YOU!
Through literature, we see the bond that unites us, the power that excites our imagination, the “currency” through which we transact meaning, giving shape to our abstract thoughts, exploring our deepest yearnings, projecting ourselves onto this world, and through it all, navigating the awesome adventure that is our lives! AP Lit is all about you, so take the plunge!

AP English Language & Composition – Ms. Dunn
AP Lang is an opportunity for you to grow in your writing and critical thinking skills. Come to class ready to learn, reflect, and sharpen your voice as a writer.
We’ll explore the power of language, analyze diverse texts, and learn how to craft compelling arguments that matter in the real world.
Outside of school, I’m a mom to a four-year-old, a lover of reading and crocheting, and married to a published author. I want my students to become thoughtful citizens and succeed in whatever path they pursue.AP Chemistry – Mr. Finnegan
Chemistry is the study of matter and change. It explains, on a fundamental level, how and why everything around us is the way it is.
That includes us, because we are chemistry! This class can be extremely interesting and fulfilling. It also requires a great deal of effort, time, and attention. If you want a real challenge, and have the work ethic to handle it, this is the class for you.
Outside of teaching I am a coach, musician, avid soccer fan, and disc golf player.More than anything, I love to learn about the world around me. I hope you choose to join me in AP Chem to learn more about the small processes that make up the larger world around us.
AP Psychology – Ms. Giardina
Ever wonder why people act the way they do? AP Psychology dives into the fascinating world of human thought and behavior. You'll explore how the brain works, why we dream, how we learn, how we interact with others, and why we sometimes develop mental disorders. Psychology is a required course at many colleges and universities, and it connects to countless other fields of study. If you would like a deeper understanding of yourself and those around you, AP Psychology is the course for you!
When I'm not at school, you can find me hanging out with my dogs, reading, or competing in trivia contests. I believe that we are lifelong learners, and after taking this class, I hope you will too.
AP World History – Mr. Mantlow
AP World History is more than names and dates, but a story of how people across time and place have shaped the world we live in today. In this class, we’ll explore revolutions, religions, trade routes, empires, and everyday life across continents.
You’ll see how ideas spread, how cultures collide and blend, and how the past continues to echo in the present.
By the end, you won’t just memorize history, but you’ll understand why it matters, and how it can help you make sense of the world around you.
AP Environmental Science and Honors Biology – Mr. Rao
AP Environmental Science is all about understanding the world around us — and your role in it. You don’t have to be an expert to start, just someone who’s curious and eager to learn about the environment, sustainability, and real-world solutions.
In Biology, we’ll dive into how life really works — from cells and DNA to ecosystems and evolution. Expect hands-on labs, big-picture thinking, and plenty of opportunities to ask big questions.
When I’m not teaching, I love hiking, gardening, and working with local conservation groups. Whether you’re passionate about science or just starting to explore it, these classes will challenge you to think critically, stay curious, and grow. Let’s get into it!

With a passion for problem-solving and precision, Coach DWash brings Geometry to life through real-world applications and interactive learning. His Honors course challenges students to think critically, reason logically, and explore the elegance of mathematical relationships.
He is committed to building a strong foundation in geometric concepts while fostering a classroom environment that encourages curiosity, confidence, and academic excellence.

AP Physics 1 – Mr. Williams
You don’t have to be a future engineer to thrive in AP Physics, but curious and ready to stretch your thinking. This algebra-based course focuses on the “how” and “why” behind the forces that shape our world. You’ll develop critical thinking and problem-solving strategies that transfer to any career path, not just STEM.
Outside of class, I’m a dad of four and grandfather of two. I love cooking, reading, and catching live concerts and musicals. On weekends, you’ll probably find me on a trail, a bike, or a paddle board.

A history lover, tech fan, and proud Augusta University grad, Ms. Woodard is all about exploring big ideas, untold stories, and making the past feel real and relevant. Whether diving into global revolutions or celebrating Black excellence, she’s here to help students think deeper, ask bold questions, and connect history to today.
Outside of class, you’ll find her coaching hoops, singing in church, reading nonfiction, or tending to her giant garden.
