Ms. Roberts
Hello! Welcome to the Culinary Arts Program at the Academy of Richmond County. My name is Ms. Roberts and I am excited to be your Culinary Arts teacher. With over 20 years of experience as a teacher and chef, I bring a wealth of knowledge and passion to our kitchen. I received my post-secondary education from Claflin University with a degree in Education. After college, I went on to teach Elementary Education for a little under 20 years. During this time, I also worked for the Boys and Girls Club, teaching students through my organization, "Cooking Matters". I graduated from Escoffier School of Culinary Arts in Boulder, Colorado, where I continued to develop my love for cooking and honed my skills in both classic and modern culinary techniques. It is my pleasure to share this expertise and enthusiasm with you.
In our Culinary Arts program, we offer three courses: Intro to Culinary Arts, Culinary Arts 1, and Culinary Arts 2. Each course is designed to build on the previous one, taking you from the basics to advanced culinary skills.
My teaching philosophy is centered around the belief that cooking is both an art and a science. I emphasize hands-on learning, creativity, and critical thinking. I encourage my students to experiment, make mistakes, and learn from them. In our classroom, you will not only learn how to cook but also gain a deeper understanding of the cultural and historical context of food.
I am thrilled to embark on this culinary adventure with you. Together, we will explore new flavors, master essential techniques, and create delicious dishes. Welcome to the Culinary Arts family at The Academy of Richmond County. Let’s get cooking!
