Degrees and Certifications:

-Bachelors Degree in Creative Writing -Master's in Education (Secondary Education)

Mr. Calvin Pennywell

My name is Mr. Pennywell. I am an ELA teacher here at the Academy of Richmond County.

I graduated from Augusta University with a Bachelors Degree in Creative Writing. I'm currently undergoing a Graduate Degree in Secondary Education at Georgia College & State University. My hobbies are running, reading, writing, watching classic films, and spending time with my family, but most importantly, thinking of innovative ways to communicate thoughts and ideas.

My teaching philosophy is as follows:

It is because of the effective teaching of my past teachers that I enjoy reading and writing. It is because of their consistency, determination, and caring nature that I appreciate the importance of education. They have challenged me to strengthen my skills as a student and individual in order to better equip me for the world and its varied expectations. My purpose as a teacher is to be a conduit of that legacy. My goal as an educator is to mirror, if not evolve, their same effective practices. My goal is to help students become better readers, writers, listeners, and communicators as they maneuver through a world of varied requirements and expectations. The world has many questions and is awaiting their responses, for their purpose may be the solution to someone's problem.
