A. Montague Miller

Montague Miller is a graduate of Richmond Academy. He is a native Augustan. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Georgia, and a Juris Doctorate from the UGA School of Law. He serves as “ of counsel” to the law firm that he co-founded in 1971.

 

From 1971 to 1990, Mr. Miller was a partner in the law firm of Dye, Miller, Tucker & Everitt and its predecessors. He is a member of the Augusta Bar Association. In 1984, he was inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. In 1985, he served as the President of the Augusta Bar Association. He is also a member of the State Bar of Georgia and the Defense Research Institute and the International Association of Defense Counsel.

 

Mr. Miller has participated actively in more than five hundred civil jury trials and sixty appeals. He has appeared before the United States Supreme Court. He has served as a Special Master in state and federal courts and has served as a mediator and an arbitrator.

 

In May 2001, Mr. Miller retired as president and Chief Executive Officer of Club Car, Inc. in Augusta. Club Car is one of the leading manufacturers of golf cars and utility vehicles. He is past chairman of the Board of Directors at First Bank. He is also President of Bartram Trail, a Community Development Corporation which was formed by the County Commissioners of Columbia County to develop a public golf course for citizens of Columbia County.

 

He and his wife, the former Peggy Mays, have two grown sons, Stephen Miller, and William Miller.
