Neely Plumb
Neely Plumb was born in Augusta, Georgia on November 17, 1912. He died of heart failure at eighty-eight on October 4, 2000 in Sherman Oaks, California. His birth name was Benjamin Neely Plumb.
Neely was a proud graduate of the Academy of Richmond County. He was married to Flora June Dobry.
They had three children -- Eve Plumb, Ben Plumb, and Flora Plumb.
Mr. Plumb was a great saxophone player. He became a music producer for RCA. Mr. Plumb is known for his work on the following: The Sound of Music (1967) , The Harrad Experiment (1973); Bye Bye Birdie; The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly; True Grit and She Came to the Valley (1979). He arranged the million selling pop hit “Purple People Eater.” He earned five gold records for producing soundtrack albums.
He is known as an arranger/conductor/clarinet player.
