Course Description
Welcome to Scientific Research! This course is designed to equip students with the skills necessary to conduct thorough research, articulate their findings in a well-structured research paper, engage in formal debates, and present innovative ideas in a Shark Tank-style project. The curriculum emphasizes critical thinking, effective communication, and creative problem-solving.
Key Components:
- Research Paper: Students will learn how to select a research topic, conduct a literature review, formulate a thesis, gather and analyze data, and write a comprehensive research paper following academic standards.
- Debating: Students will develop their argumentation skills by participating in structured debates on various topics. They will learn to construct logical arguments, anticipate counterarguments, and present their points persuasively.
- Shark Tank Project: Students will work in teams to develop a business idea or innovative solution to a real-world problem. They will create a business plan, conduct market research, and pitch their ideas to a panel of judges in a Shark Tank-style presentation.
Course Objectives:
- Develop advanced research skills, including information gathering, analysis, and synthesis.
- Enhance writing skills through the creation of a structured and well-supported research paper.
- Improve public speaking and argumentation skills through formal debates.
- Foster creativity and entrepreneurial thinking through the Shark Tank project.
- Encourage collaboration and teamwork in developing and presenting innovative ideas.

Reassess and Relearn Plan
For all Major Grades, students have up to 10 school days to reassess up to two times.
Students must fill out the reassessment form and show documentation of attempted relearning that could include:
- Video Notes
- Redone assignments
- Tutoring hours
Minor Grades may be reassessed at teacher discretion.
