Kindergarten - 3rd Grade Standards-Based Report Cards

What Is Standards-Based Grading?

  • Our kindergarten through 3rd-grade report cards are standards-based. This means they show how well students are learning the skills and knowledge set by Georgia’s academic standards. Instead of letter grades (A, B, C, D, F), students receive number scores that show their progress toward meeting the standard, not pass or failure.

  • 1 – Beginning Learner- The student is still developing this skill and needs more time, practice, and support to meet the standard.

2 – Developing Learner- Student is progressing, and more time and practice will help them meet the standard.

3 – Proficient Learner- Student is meeting the standard; this is the target for every student by the end of the year.

4 – Distinguished- Student is exceeding the standard; they independently use their learning in new or challenging situations.

Blank – Don't worry! This content has not been taught in class yet.

Remember: A "4" is not the same as an "A", and a "1" is not the same as an "F".
