More about Dr. Andrea Roberts....
Journey & Accomplishments:
I taught high school foreign language and elementary school grades two through five over a 16-year span in two Title One schools. During my tenure as an elementary teacher, I taught in self-contained classes, single gender classes and even had the pleasure of looping with students. Then, I served as an instructional coach for two years, leading the school to a 30-point gain in the annual report card score. From this position, I moved into an assistant principal position for just over a year before being promoted to interim principal. This led to principalships in two Title One schools over the next few years. Then, I was selected to serve as a Transformation Coach for the South Carolina Department of Education to assist with increasing student achievement in federally identified schools. Currently, I serve as Assistant Superintendent, having held this position for the last three years. I am excited to supervise only elementary principals this school year since that has been the bulk of my experience. I continue to hold both teacher and leader certification in Georgia and South Carolina.
Commitment to Continued Learning:
Recently, I completed the District Office Professional Development Program offered by GSSA and am currently enrolled in the Lead Every Day Academy. Reading is one way I continue to learn, having recently read Uncommon Greatness and I am reading Atomic Habits.
Fun Fact:
I enjoy cooking and have recently taken up baking with sourdough starter. There are so many options available that I frequently bake bread just to share with others.
