The Richmond County School System has 58 Georgia Lottery funded Pre-K classes in 31 elementary schools. The System has implemented the Georgia Pre-K program since 1994 and provides a full instructional day (6.5 hours) to all eligible four-year-olds; students must be 4 years of age on or before September 1 of the current school year to be eligible. The Creative Curriculum is used in all Pre-K classrooms; this is a research based curriculum that features exploration and discovery as ways of learning.
Richmond County's Pre-Kindergarten Program's goal is to help children become self-confident, independent learners. Students are involved in child-centered instruction that allows teachers to create and maintain rich and exciting learning environments.
