• Welcome

The Richmond County School System has 58 Georgia Lottery funded Pre-K classes. The Sytem has implemented the Georgia Pre-K program since 1994. The program provides a full instructional day (6.5 hours) to all eligible four year olds (must be 4 years of age on or before September 1) of the current school year. The Big Day Curriculum is used in all classes. At least 95% of the teachers are certified with a degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education or working towards becoming certified.

    2.1 Age Requirement

Children must be four years of age on September 1, 2020, based on acceptable documentation, such as birth certificates, certificates of live birth, passports, official medical documents, legal documents, or official documents from other countries. Proof of age eligibility must be on file the day the child begins the Pre-K program.

The Georgia Pre-K Program is available in all elementary schools in the district with the exception of C.T. Walker. The maximum class size is 22 students with the exception of the 13 Blended Pre-K/Head Start classrooms. These classes have 20 students each. More information about the Georgia Lottery funded Pre-Kindergarten Program can be found by visiting www.decal.ga.gov.

Please note: If a child attends an out-of-zone site for Pre-Kindergarten, your child will return to your zoned elementary school for Kindergarten unless approved for a House Bill 251.
