From GaDOE Instructional Materials website: "During the 2016 legislative session, laws related to textbook adoption were revised to allow for the Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) to opt out of this role and leave adoption decisions up to local school districts.  The revised legislation to the Georgia Code can be found in House Bill 739. The GaDOE will support districts in evaluating high quality programs without being part of the formal, facilitated adoption, and review process."

Instructional Resource and Textbook Adoption Guidelines for Vendors

The Richmond County School System is a closed district, meaning all contact from publishers and sales representatives regarding instructional resource purchases should be directed through the district office. School personnel should contact the Instructional Resource Coordinator if sales representatives contact the school without going through the district office. The district office will not send a sales representative to a school without prior notification from the Instructional Resource Coordinator. All vendor presentations during an adoption year are coordinated through the Teaching and Learning Department.
