HOW CAN COUNSELORS HELP MY CHILD?
School Counselors provide a variety of services within their school's comprehensive, developmental counseling program. Counselors implement the counseling program by providing:
School Counseling Core Curriculum Lessons (Classroom Guidance)
- Academic support, including organizational, study and test-taking skills
- Goal setting and decision-making
- Career awareness, exploration and planning
- Education on understanding self and others, peer relationships, coping strategies and effective social skills
- Communication, problem-solving and conflict resolution
- Substance abuse education
- Multicultural/diversity awareness
Individual Student Planning and Small Groups
- Academic planning
- Goal setting/decision- making
- Education on understanding of self, including strengths and weaknesses
- Transition plans
Responsive Services/ Crisis Intervention

There are a variety of ways to get into contact with your child's counselor:
- Telephone call (see the contact list on this page)
- Visiting the school
- Sending a note with your child
- Participating in events sponsored by the Guidance and Counseling Department
