The Georgia Milestones Assessments System (GMAS) is a criterion-referenced test, administered in grades 3-8 at the end of each grade and high school at the end of each SBOE identified course designed to measure student mastery of the state’s content standards as an indicator of preparedness for the next grade, course, or educational endeavor, be that college or career. Georgia Milestone includes a norm-referenced component to provide national comparison data.
Who takes it?
Grades 3, 4, 6, and 7 - take the End-of-Grade (EOG) assessments in the content areas of English/Language Arts and Mathematics.
Grades 5 and 8 - take the End-of-Grade assessments in the content areas of English/Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies.
High School - students take an End-of-Course (EOC) assessment for each of the courses designated by the State Board of Education.
When/How frequently is it taken?
April - May
How is it administered?
Online unless a student cannot interact with a computer due to their disability. Decisions regarding the mode of administration must be made by an IEP team.
