SB 63 Home Study Student Testing Request Procedures

  • In accordance with Georgia law (as amended by Senate Bill 63), the Richmond County School System is required to make certain standardized and advanced placement exams available to eligible home study students who reside in our district. This means your student can now access these important testing opportunities at their zoned RCSS middle or high school.

     

    Which Tests Are offered by the Richmond County School System AND Included for Qualified Students?

    • PSAT/NMSQT (Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test)

    • Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB)

    • Advanced Placement (AP) Exams (The exams associated with high school AP courses)

     

    Key Information for Parents

    1. Eligibility: This opportunity is for home study students in grades 6 through 12 whose program meets the requirements of Georgia Code Section 20-2-690(c).

    2. Cost and Requirements: RCSS will not charge your home study student a fee that is not also charged to students actively enrolled in the school system.

    3. How to Request:

      1. PSAT/NMSQT: Check the RCSS Assessment Calendar for the test window. Email the Coordinator of Assessment and Research at least 3 weeks prior to the beginning of the testing window. Coordinator: Lambert, Ca'Vana - LambeCa1@BOE.richmond.k12.ga.us.

      2. ASVAB: Administration varies by school. Contact the Coordinator of Assessment and Research as soon as possible with your request.

      3. AP Exams: Review the College Board's official AP Exam Schedule. Email the Coordinator of Assessment and Research at least 5 weeks prior to the testing date.
