State Assessment Participation Guide for Scholarship Students
We are committed to providing information to ensure students participating in the Georgia Special Needs Scholarship (SB10) and Georgia Promise Scholarship (SB233) programs can participate in statewide assessments upon request.
The law grants students in both programs the right to participate in state assessments (EOG, EOC, and GAA if eligibility criteria are met) at the resident school system.
1. Key Deadlines and Forms
Parents or legal guardians must initiate the process by submitting a formal request to the Local Education Agency (LEA) of their resident school system. You can email this request to Dr. Aronica Gloster at glostar@boe.richmond.k12.ga.us

Important Note on Notification: Local Education Agencies (LEAs) are not required by law to notify scholarship students of statewide assessment opportunities. It is the responsibility of the parent/legal guardian to track test dates and submit the request form by the eight-week deadline.
2. Testing Logistics

Testing Location & Time
The child’s zoned school will provide the location and scheduled times for all statewide assessments.
Eligible Assessments
Students may participate in the EOG (End-of-Grade), EOC (End-of-Course), and the GAA (Georgia Alternate Assessment), provided eligibility requirements for the GAA are met.
Transportation
Parents/legal guardians are solely responsible for ensuring the student is transported to and from the designated testing location.
3. Testing Accommodations
The resident school system will provide necessary testing accommodations, but these are subject to specific federal guidelines.
- Legal Basis: Accommodations are provided in accordance with the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
- Purpose: Accommodations are designed only to provide the student access to the test.
- Documentation Required: At the time the testing request form is submitted, the parent must provide evidence (such as the student's Individual Service Plan) detailing the type of accommodations requested and the rationale for needing those specific accommodations.
